Overview
Askby
Ask a question in plain English and get an answer from Gatsby's help documentation without leaving the product. Askby lives in your top navigation, cites the articles it drew from, and gets sharper every time you tell it whether an answer helped.

Help that comes to you, right where the work is.
Invites go out in an hour and you want to double-check how the RSVP buttons behave on your landing page. Ask Askby and the answer is there in seconds, in a panel beside the thing you’re working on.
We invested heavily in making that answer a good one: a retrieval system across Gatsby’s entire help library, wired into the product so what you get back is accurate, specific, and cited — at the moment you need it most.
Ask from any page
Click the Askby icon in your top navigation. A panel opens over whatever you’re doing and stays open while you keep working.
Answers you can check
Askby answers in a couple of sentences and links the help articles it drew from, so you can go deeper when the short version isn’t enough.
Askby works alongside all your usual support channels. It’s simply always there — answering in seconds, at any hour, so a question with a documented answer never waits for someone’s working day to start. Nothing about how you reach a person changes, and when Askby can’t help, it points you to the people who can.
Asking a question
Section titled “Asking a question”-
Open Askby from the navigation icon or the ? menu.
-
Pick a suggested question or type your own. A fresh panel offers three common questions as chips, with a refresh control to cycle to a different set. Clicking one sends it as if you’d typed it.
-
Press Enter to send. Askby shows a thinking indicator, then the full answer at once.
-
Follow the links, or keep going. Ask a follow-up in the same conversation and Askby keeps the earlier context.
What comes back in an answer
A short answer. Two or three sentences in plain language, formatted with bold, lists, and inline code where that makes it clearer. Askby is written to answer, not to pad.
Learn more. The help articles the answer came from, listed under the answer as clickable links. They open without throwing you out of Gatsby, and they’re how you verify what Askby told you.
Links that take you where you need to go. When the answer involves a specific screen — the Plan & Billing tab in Team Settings, say — that becomes a real link into your own account, with the panel still open behind it.
A copy button. Copies the answer, formatting and numbering intact, for pasting into notes, an email, or a Slack message to a colleague.
What Askby can't do
Two hard limits, and it’s worth knowing them before you ask.
Askby can’t see your account. “How many people RSVP’d to Thursday’s dinner?” is not a question it can answer. It reads Gatsby’s help documentation, not your data. That’s a deliberate boundary, not a gap we forgot.
Askby can’t do things for you. It won’t edit your landing page, add a guest, or change a setting. It will tell you exactly where to go and what to click.
When something goes wrong
If Askby is unavailable or can’t answer, you get a plain message saying so, a Try again button, and a route to a human. Your question isn’t lost.
Nothing about a failed answer is your fault, and the copy won’t imply it is. If it keeps failing, the support team is one email away:
The feedback loop, concretely
Section titled “The feedback loop, concretely” What happens when you vote on an answer
A thumbs up or thumbs down is recorded against that specific answer and handed to the team that maintains Askby’s knowledge base. It isn’t a satisfaction score sitting in a dashboard nobody reads — low-rated questions are reviewed against the documentation that produced them.
You can change your vote. One vote per answer.
Should I add detail when the answer was wrong?
Vote first — it’s one click and it registers. If the answer was wrong in a way that matters, or the documentation is missing something your team needs, tell us through any of your usual support channels, or email us directly:
A specific “Askby told me X, but the actual behavior is Y” is worth a great deal to us.
Does my organization's data train anything?
No. Askby answers from Gatsby’s published help documentation. It has no access to your contacts, guest lists, events, or campaigns, so none of that can end up in an answer — to you or to anyone else.
What we keep is the conversation itself: your questions and Askby’s answers, for 12 months, so you can reopen them and so we can find the gaps in our own documentation.
Coming back to a conversation
Section titled “Coming back to a conversation”Askby keeps your recent conversations, newest first, behind the history control in the panel header. Open one to read it again or pick up where you left off. The list loads older conversations as you scroll.
Conversations are kept for 12 months. New conversation in the header clears the panel and starts fresh without touching your history.
Your history is yours — teammates don’t see your conversations, and you don’t see theirs.
Daily limits
Section titled “Daily limits”Askby answers up to 30 questions per person per day and 200 per organization per day. These exist so no single account can run away with the bill. They are set high enough that ordinary use never reaches them — 30 questions in one day is a very heavy day.
How you'll know you're near a limit
A small counter appears under the composer when you have 10 questions or fewer left today, and darkens at three or fewer. Above 10, there’s nothing to see.
If you do hit a limit, the panel says which one — yours or your organization’s — and roughly when it resets. Limits reset once a day.
I hit the limit and I need an answer now
Askby’s limits don’t touch any of your other support channels — Message us in the ? menu works as usual, and so does email:
Hitting a cap never cuts you off from a human.
Controlling Askby for your organization
Section titled “Controlling Askby for your organization”Both controls live in Team Settings → Super Admin Settings, in the Askby section. Super Admins only — Admins don’t see that tab.
Enable Askby
Turns Askby on or off for everyone in your organization. When it’s off, the navigation icon, the ? menu entry, and the panel are all hidden.
This is the switch for firms with an internal AI policy that needs to be honored before the assistant is available to staff.
Can External Collaborators use Askby
Off by default. External Collaborators — the outside people you invite onto specific events — have no access to Askby unless a Super Admin turns it on.
If Enable Askby is off, this toggle is greyed out, because there’s nothing for it to permit.
Common Questions
Section titled “Common Questions” Is Askby included in my plan?
Yes. Askby is part of Gatsby at no additional cost, and there’s no per-question charge.
I don't see the Askby icon in my navigation.
Two things turn it off. A Super Admin may have switched Askby off in Super Admin Settings → Askby. Or you’re signed in as an External Collaborator, who don’t get Askby unless a Super Admin enables it.
Can Askby tell me about my own event?
No. Askby answers questions about how Gatsby works, not questions about your data. It can’t see your contacts, guests, events, or campaigns — so it can’t tell you who RSVP’d, and it can’t tell anyone else either.
Can Askby make a change for me?
Not today. It answers questions and points you to the right screen. Doing the work for you is a direction we’re building toward, deliberately, rather than something we quietly bolted on.
Does the panel close when I navigate to another page?
No. The panel is designed to stay open while you move around Gatsby, so you can follow an answer’s instructions with the answer still on screen.
Is this the same Askby we've seen elsewhere?
Yes — the same assistant and the same knowledge base. Askby already answers behind the support inbox, and in shared Slack channels for the teams that have one:
Putting it inside the product means you don’t have to switch tools to ask.
How long are my conversations kept?
12 months. After that, the message text is removed.
Askby gave me a wrong answer. What should I do?
Thumbs it down — that’s the fastest way to get it fixed, and it routes straight to the people who maintain Askby’s documentation.
If the correct answer matters right now, any of your usual support channels will get you a human, email included:
